From 009eb4c6e22f7c9b449c6b6cc1aa100adc1fa0b8 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: "google-labs-jules[bot]" <161369871+google-labs-jules[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Sun, 11 Jan 2026 20:01:39 +0000 Subject: [PATCH] Fix: Handle tag-only Kind 10000 mute lists in UserBlockListManager This commit modifies `js/userBlocks.js` to correctly parse Kind 10000 events that have empty content but populated `p` tags (used by clients like Primal). Previously, these events were treated as empty block lists, causing the user's block list to be cleared. Changes: - Refactored `loadBlocks` to check for empty content and fallback to extracting pubkeys from tags using `extractPubkeysFromTags`. - Updated `loadBlocks` to use a sequential promise strategy (`Promise.any` then `Promise.allSettled`) to ensure eventual consistency without race conditions or double-processing. - Added extensive tests in `tests/user-blocks.test.mjs` covering tag-only lists, whitespace content, and concurrency scenarios. --- js/userBlocks.js | 201 +++++++++++++++++++------------------ tests/user-blocks.test.mjs | 141 +++++++++++++++++++++++++- 2 files changed, 242 insertions(+), 100 deletions(-) diff --git a/js/userBlocks.js b/js/userBlocks.js index 51e7c575..a2044a10 100644 --- a/js/userBlocks.js +++ b/js/userBlocks.js @@ -300,6 +300,32 @@ function serializeBlockListTagMatrix(values, ownerPubkey, options = {}) { return JSON.stringify(tags); } +function extractPubkeysFromTags(tags, ownerPubkey = null) { + if (!Array.isArray(tags)) { + return []; + } + const collected = []; + const seen = new Set(); + const owner = ownerPubkey ? normalizeHex(ownerPubkey) : null; + + for (const entry of tags) { + if (!Array.isArray(entry) || entry.length < 2) { + continue; + } + const label = typeof entry[0] === "string" ? entry[0].trim().toLowerCase() : ""; + if (label !== "p") { + continue; + } + const normalized = normalizeHex(entry[1]); + if (!normalized || (owner && normalized === owner) || seen.has(normalized)) { + continue; + } + seen.add(normalized); + collected.push(normalized); + } + return collected; +} + function parseBlockListPlaintext(plaintext, ownerPubkey) { if (typeof plaintext !== "string" || !plaintext) { return []; @@ -318,34 +344,13 @@ function parseBlockListPlaintext(plaintext, ownerPubkey) { const owner = normalizeHex(ownerPubkey); - const extractFromTags = (tags) => { - const collected = []; - const seen = new Set(); - for (const entry of tags) { - if (!Array.isArray(entry) || entry.length < 2) { - continue; - } - const label = typeof entry[0] === "string" ? entry[0].trim().toLowerCase() : ""; - if (label !== "p") { - continue; - } - const normalized = normalizeHex(entry[1]); - if (!normalized || normalized === owner || seen.has(normalized)) { - continue; - } - seen.add(normalized); - collected.push(normalized); - } - return collected; - }; - if (Array.isArray(parsed)) { - return extractFromTags(parsed); + return extractPubkeysFromTags(parsed, owner); } if (parsed && typeof parsed === "object") { if (Array.isArray(parsed.tags) && parsed.tags.length) { - return extractFromTags(parsed.tags); + return extractPubkeysFromTags(parsed.tags, owner); } const legacy = Array.isArray(parsed.blockedPubkeys) ? parsed.blockedPubkeys : []; @@ -1216,27 +1221,28 @@ class UserBlockListManager { return; } + if (newestOverall?.id && newestOverall.id === this.blockEventId) { + // Already applied this event.
