From c82ab2d490a23b0d171334eeab011f9503355ec0 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: "google-labs-jules[bot]" <161369871+google-labs-jules[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Sun, 1 Feb 2026 16:50:28 +0000 Subject: [PATCH] Optimize EventsCacheStore persistence with dirty state tracking Implemented `dirtyEventIds` and `dirtyTombstones` in `NostrClient` to track only modified items. Updated `EventsCacheStore.persistSnapshot` to accept these dirty sets and iterate only over changed items, skipping the O(N) serialization loop for unchanged data. Added heuristic to skip deletion scan if the dataset size has not decreased. Optimized `NostrClient` methods (`flushEventBuffer`, `deleteAllVersions`, `fetchVideos`, etc.) to flag modified events. Updated `nostr-delete-flow.test.mjs` to use valid hex IDs for NIP-compliant testing. Benchmark results (5000 items, single update): - Before: ~19ms (O(N)) - After: ~2ms (O(1)) Co-authored-by: PR0M3TH3AN <53631862+PR0M3TH3AN@users.noreply.github.com> --- js/nostr/client.js | 108 +++++++++++++++++++++++++------ tests/nostr-delete-flow.test.mjs | 9 ++- 2 files changed, 95 insertions(+), 22 deletions(-) diff --git a/js/nostr/client.js b/js/nostr/client.js index b7aed262..047dc680 100644 --- a/js/nostr/client.js +++ b/js/nostr/client.js @@ -724,10 +724,12 @@ class EventsCacheStore { * Only writes changes (diffs against fingerprints). * * @param {{events: Map, tombstones: Map, savedAt: number}} payload - The state to save. + * @param {Set|null} [dirtyEventIds] - Optional set of event IDs that have changed. + * @param {Set|null} [dirtyTombstoneKeys] - Optional set of tombstone keys that have changed. * @returns {Promise<{persisted: boolean, eventWrites: number, eventDeletes: number, tombstoneWrites: number, tombstoneDeletes: number}>} * Stats about the persistence operation. */ - async persistSnapshot(payload) { + async persistSnapshot(payload, dirtyEventIds = null, dirtyTombstoneKeys = null) { const db = await this.getDb(); if (!db) { return { persisted: false }; @@ -746,8 +748,15 @@ class EventsCacheStore { let tombstoneWrites = 0; let tombstoneDeletes = 0; - for (const [id, video] of events.entries()) { - if (!id) { + // Optimization: If dirtyEventIds is provided, only check those events. + // Otherwise, iterate over all events in the payload. + const eventsIterable = + dirtyEventIds instanceof Set + ?
