+# Frontend Modularization Implementation Plan
+

+**Goal:** Split the monolithic 1,436-line `app.js` into 9 ES modules with JSDoc types for better maintainability and agent visibility.
+
+**Architecture:** ES modules with `<script type="module">`, JSDoc `@typedef` for type safety via `@ts-check`, callback pattern to break circular dependencies. No build step — browsers load modules natively via FastAPI's existing static file serving.
+
+**Tech Stack:** Vanilla JavaScript ES modules, JSDoc + `@ts-check`, `jsconfig.json` for VS Code

+**Key design decisions:**
+- Circular dependency between popover↔solver broken via `setOnPopoverClose(callback)` pattern

+- Modules with event listeners use `init*()` functions called by main.js (explicit side effects)
+- DOM elements typed with JSDoc casts only where subtype APIs are needed (`.value`, `.src`, etc.)
